Hubby was excited too! If you notice, he is wearing a different minion t-shirt. We had barbecue two times in the same week and he was so cute to want to wear his two new minion shirts we had bought in the mall the other day. I "warned" him one of it reminded me of a sleeping tee and if he still wanted it. He said, "I like that even better!" haha :D
We have always wondered if we are one of the very few couples who would enjoy a 2 people barbecue. Why not? It is sweet and romantic and less noisy and you can eat EVERYTHING! In Hong Kong, we would have barbecue just him and I too but we had to go to a specific area to do so. Usually families buy seasoned meat (some people would season their own meat for a cheaper cost, like my mom) and other snacks and take them to a public barbecue pit (usually located nearby beaches or country parks). Another option is to go to a privately owned barbecue site where you get all supplies in one place. We used to do that! Especially for spontaneous couples like us sometimes I was suddenly in the mood of barbecuing. No preparation would be needed! The only thing is, no matter how big our appetite can be we would always go home super super stuffed because we would try to eat everything that came with the package (we would buy the smallest package that could feed three people). Some people have commented how much we can eat. Actually, we both hate to waste food. Doing it at home this time was great. We didn't have to make our tummy suffer!
I hope you are not hungry because I am gonna share some of our favorite barbecued food :)

Blue cheese and beef sausage
wrapped in bacon and roasted bun

Roasted sweet corn and
Sriracha chilli sauced seasoned chicken drumstick

Pork chop bun with
roasted cherry tomatoes, bell pepper and eggplant

Roasted Hungarian hot pepper and portobello mushroom

Balsamic vinegar and roasted garlic seasoned shrimps

Melted chocolate with almonds and roasted marshmallow
inside graham crackers

Roasted marshmallow and cinnamon powder
on a roasted sweet potato
Don't they all look yummy?! And we were pretty creative I think? :) What's more ... we had free romantic entertainment near home - a fireworks show dedicated to America's 4th of July!
Thanks hubby for making my endless dreams come true!

The yam looks super deli!!! I've never thought eating yam this way. Maybe I can pop one in the oven this weekend and try it too :)
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite BBQ food is definitely chicken wings ^^
It is his grandma's recipe for Thanksgiving desserts but we did it in the BBQ way, so if you use the oven it will turn out fine! Just be sure to peel the sweet potatoes/ yams, cut them in chunks, bake them with giant marshmallows (these don't melt too quickly) or you can add the marshmallows when the sweet potatoes start to turn soft. And then add cinnamond powder to serve. I am pretty sure you will enjoy it!!
DeleteWe love BBQ chicken wings too but couldn't find any fresh ones that day so we used drumsticks instead. It is even better! Crispy skin, meaty and juicy!
