Our Happy Yummy Summer

It was our very first summer with Baby V in the U.S.! Although we had already spent last Christmas in the U.S., it surely was a different experience to get back in the summer. We love the much less humid climate there and the big sky and the less crowd. Most of all we love going back to our house and getting to enjoy the space and yards! Brandon was sweet to take us to pick up a couple pots of beautiful flowers so we could decorate our home. Every morning he took Baby V to water the flowers and she would smile. We are so blessed that she is such a happy baby and appreciates little things like that! Brandon and I are both pretty simple people, it seems like she is the same :)

Going out with Baby V was both satisfying and exhausting! She needed her naps twice a day so we had to plan our activities well. We sometimes failed and sometimes succeeded. Parenting is definitely an ongoing learning process which gives you plenty of surprises and reflections of life. It was rewarding to observe what Baby V enjoyed that let us learn about our little girl even better. We found out she just loves animals! Plus her observant eyes impress us! She can spot them no matter it is real or animated, large or tiny, on the display or printed on people's shirts or bags, in color or black and white. So far her favourites are dogs, cats, birds, horses and bears! She would clap her hands to show us how happy she was to see them. We also learned that she is a patient audience, she would be the last one to leave if other children already had enough. One of our summer highlights was taking her to the zoo and fairs. We kept falling more in love with our little animal lover! We look forward to next summer when she will get to pat the animals :)

    

For me I had missed some U.S. food! I have always loved the big plate of food and irresistible desserts. These are some thumbs up dishes I really enjoyed! Some of those foods we had talked about eating them again the whole year before we got back! I picked up a few pounds because of eating too well!

August is our anniversary month! We had our very first movie date ever since becoming parents. We picked Despicable Me 3 to watch. It was fun and relaxing. Brandon kept saying he was missing Baby V. I honestly wasn't missing her too badly, hehe. Baby V's Grandpa and Grandma were more than happy to babysit and Baby V enjoyed their company too!

 

 

It was also pretty cool we took Baby V to where Daddy had been as a child, like the public library and parks. Baby V is already a book lover like Daddy. It has been her routine to read before bedtime. I found it to be awesome that you can borrow 50 books at one time! At the park her favorite thing is the swing! She could sit on one forever and it calmed her so much she had fallen asleep on it!

 

 

How would I ever know I would have two homes? I am always very thankful this is working out for us. It seems like we can never put either home out of our mind no matter where we are at. As Baby V is becoming bigger, it is amazing to see her turning bilingual. She can understand both English and Cantonese and has been uttering words from both languages. For this we are very proud. We don't see one language is more or less important than the other. They both represent Mama and Daddy's culture, where we are from and our pride of loving our own country. We will continue to try our best to introduce both worlds to our little girl and let her see how different Mama and Daddy might be but we can be in harmony because of appreciation, understanding and of course love! We miss our home from the other side of the world and can't wait for another happy yummy summer! :)
